Seventeen years ago today ...

I started 'courting' my new boyfriend.  We'd been on a couple of dates with friends but this time we were 'going out together', 'boyfriend and girlfriend', 'a couple'.  How long would it last?  What would his parents' think of me?  Would my mam like him?

I remember thinking he had quite expensive tastes, a great car (Renault 5 GT turbo) , always smartly dressed, never late,  pretty easy going, good to get along with, quite knowledgeable, good at 'summing up' people,  generous, cuddly and a good kisser!!

Unfortunately, the car is long gone.  The expensive taste is still there but the funds aren't quite up to it!  He still 'scrubs up' well, will always know more than I do and still is really cuddly!!  More cuddly than he was 17 years ago, but he's trying to become less cuddly for our first 'beach' holiday since we had the boys.

He's a rock of a husband, a good father, and my best friend.   IF I was drinking (which I'm not cos it's Lent)  I would raise a toast to David and myself: 'Here's to the next 17 years'......

Been away a while

Hi

Not much been happening really.  Getting a bit closer to finishing the house (eventually).  Got rid of the old piano and soon to be getting a new digital one!! I'm on a weeks holiday from work.  Going to tidy the loft today, now that will take some doing.  Hopefully my brother will help me with a car boot sale to get rid of some old toys etc (yes Andy, I know I could put them on freecycle - I'll just see if I can get a few bob for them first). I'm also hoping to finish the gloss painting, tidy the kids room  and maybe finish painting the shed.  Yes, I do call this a holiday!  For me, the translation of holiday is  -  'being able to do what you want' so I will!! Will let you know if I get it all done. Ta - ra.

Saturday nights on ITV.

I was so pleased to see the return of Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway.  The last time it was on I was working Saturdays and would often miss some or all of it so I couldn't wait to see a complete episode.

Oh, the disappointment!  Ant just seemed so hammy and fake.  Dec looks to have lost weight and then something I'd never realised before suddenly hit me.  Could Dec be gay?  He's had a string of failed relationships with women and just seemed  to be looking for 'the other bus' on TV last night.

I'm not anti-Dec or anti-Ant either.  I like to watch them and find them entertaining but last nights show was so dry I fell asleep during it (like before 9pm)!

I wondered if anyone else thought Dec 'bats for the other side'.  No prejudice or offence intended ;-)  Whaddya think?

A tribute to Newbiggin (not to be taken seriously)

In the style of Andy & Liz's silly poems I have written an acrostic to pay tribute to 'Couple' .....

Cap on! Common as muck?

Over there in our bay

Under our sky, out at sea.

Posh spice and Becks?

Lies!  Or do you agree?

Everyone visit Newbiggin By the Sea!

Happy Holidays

Walks, bike rides, searching for little red spiders, insect trails, plant trails, experiments with baking powder, bit of baking (if I must), swimming, walking on the beach (if allowed), treks to Lynemouth to look for fossils, Central park, Spital park, visiting friends and relatives, chapel coffee mornings on a Friday, shopping trips to Asda and a freebie trip to see the new HP film.  That's our plans so far.  I work term time so don't get paid but I average my salary out through the year so I'll still get a wage at the end of August. Just as well cos as you'll probably guess from the list of virtually free activities, we're seriously skint.  House renovations cost a lot of money you know!!   (PS - some new photees to view. Got my freebie kodak ready for 19 August.)
